Now is a great time to get into hockey. After a successful season last year, Bournville Hockey Club is looking to recruit players of all ages and abilities to strengthen their men’s and ladies squads for the upcoming season.
Lead by England veteran, Adrian Bailey, and a team of coaches, the club will be running training sessions throughout the summer at King Edward’s School, Edgbaston Park Road, Birmingham, B15 2UB. The sessions will run every Tuesday during August up until 1st September from 6.45-8pm.
The first two sessions will be free of charge and then a small fee will be applied for subsequent sessions.
The aim of these sessions will be to teach and refresh basic skills and then end with a game to put those skills into practice.
Elite players will be exposed to higher-level coaching, whilst less experienced, or those coming back into the game, will have the opportunity to work in smaller groups to build up skills and confidence.
The final training session will be followed up by the annual Bournville Club Day on September 5th from 2pm. This showpiece event will pitch men, ladies and younger players, all in mixed ability teams, against each other in a round robin tournament, ahead of a BBQ and drinks party.
So, whatever your ability or age, Bournville Hockey Club can offer you the opportunity to play and enjoy hockey at any standard.
